Managing research data as a junior scientist

This one-day workshop will help you improve your skills in everyday and long-term data management, including data organization, storage, sharing and, of course, the FAIR principles. You will plan the different aspects of your project’s data management through the drafting of a Data Management Plan (DMP) following the SNSF’s template.

At the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • Apply good practices for the organization and naming of files
  • Value the importance of metadata
  • Apply good practices for the storage of your research data with tools available at UNIGE
  • Value the advantages of depositing your research data in a repository and how to choose one according to your project’s needs
  • Drafting a Data Management Plan (DMP) following the SNSF template

Fees

  • The workshop is free and open to PhD students and postdocs form UNIGE and IHEID

Practical information

  • Number of participants: 20 (min. 8)
  • Languages: English
  • The participants have to bring a laptop.
  • A certificate of attendance will be issued at the end of the module.
