Semester fees

Fees amount to CHF 500 per semester (CHF 65 in fixed administrative fees and CHF 435 in tutoring fees).

Exemption for financial hardship

You can ask the Financial Aid Service for a tax exemption if you are in financial difficulty.

You must not benefit, or be waiting for, a cantonal grant or student loan.

Statutory exemption

This exemption automatic. You do not need to apply.

To benefit from this exemption, you must be starting a first basic or advanced education, or a second basic eduction.

If this is the case, you must belong to one of the following categories:

  • be an assistant or ARE (Research and Teaching assistant). Perform this role for at least 3 months during the current semester;
  • receive a scholarship as part of university exchange program, a scholarship from the Confédération, or a scholarship linked to temporary research activity;
  • do an internship outside of UNIGE as part of your studies, for 1 or 2 semesters and not use UNIGE facilities;
  • prepare a PhD (except during the first and last semester of your education),
  • be signed up and taking courses at the Institut œcuménique de Bossey;
  • be on leave of absence;
  • not be in a difficult financial situation and not have a scholarship or loan, as defined by the law on scholarships and loans.

How to pay the semester fees

You can pay via the UNIGE portal (Mon UNIGE > Paimement des taxes semestrielles).

There, you will also find the payment deadline and the bank details for making the payment.

After about 10 days, check on the UNIGE portal that the payment went through. If you have any problem, contact the Admissions Office via the online platform.
