Study accommodation program for athletes and artists at the UNIGE

The University of Geneva is aware of the constraints that a career as an elite sportsman/woman or as a confirmed artist can place on the smooth running of studies carried out at the same time. The Multiple talents / Sport-Art-Studies (MT) program regulates the adaptation of studies that these students may request once they have received their admission to a course of study at the University of Geneva. Changes are decided by the Faculty and aim to insure the equality of chances between students.

eligibility requirements

Are considered as:

  • confirmed artists, individuals who have completed a professional training program leading to a certification and have a recognized career or who have plans to pursue a professional ambition in a recognized artistic discipline;
  • elite athletes, Swiss Olympic athletes with a gold, silver, bronze, talent or elite card, professional athletes or those in training for team sports, national team athletes, as well as foreign athletes supported by their sports federations (according to NOC list).

adjustments

The MT program allows:

  • to personalize the study plan;
  • to extend the duration of the studies;
  • to spread out the examinations and tests;
  • any other adjustment that the Faculty may accept.

Guidelines

Applicants should refer to the MT program guidelines in order to get more detailed information on this plan.

Procedure

  1. The student submits their application to the MT office as soon as they have been admitted to a course of study at the University of Geneva.
  2. The MT Committee meets twice per academic year (in mid-May and in mid-December) and decides on the admission of candidates.
  3. Decisions are communicated to candidates within 6 weeks after the MT Committee has met. If they have been accepted, the student must contact their academic advisor.
  4. Adjustments are decided within the Faculties by their respective academic advisors and validated by the Dean's Office.
  5. Every year, the student must renew their online application for the MT Committee to decide whether their admission continues or not.

Deadlines

Candidates must submit their online application within the following deadlines:

  • from February 1st to April 30th, for the Fall semester;
  • from September 1st to November 30th, for the Spring semester.

Please note that complete applications submitted within the deadlines only will be considered.

Application file

Applicants must complete the MT program membership application form within the deadlines, attaching the following required documents, as explained in the current guidelines:

  • Swiss Olympic Card for athletes (if owned);
  • Portfolio for artists;
  • Training plan / weekly practice (template);
  • Signed cover letter;
  • Other additional documents (see "Critères d’octroi du statut" in the guidelines).
