Study aRRANGEMENT program for athletes and artists at UNIGE

The University of Geneva recognizes the challenges faced by elite athletes and established artists in managing their studies. This is why the Multiple talents / Sport-Art-Studies (MT) program governs the procedure for requesting special study arrangements for these students. Requests can be made as soon as the student is admitted to a course of study at UNIGE. Arrangements are decided by the Faculty to ensure equal opportunities for all students.

eligibility requirements

Are considered as:

  • Confirmed artists, individuals who have completed a professional training program leading to a certification and have a recognized career or who have plans to pursue a professional ambition in a recognized artistic discipline;
  • Elite athletes, Swiss Olympic card holders (gold, silver, bronze, talent or elite), professional or trainee athletes in team sports, national team athletes, as well as foreign athletes supported by their sports federations (according to NOC list).

arrangements

The MT program allows the student to request:

  • Personalization of the study plan;
  • Extension of the duration of studies;
  • Flexible distribution of examinations and tests;
  • Any other arrangement approved by the Faculty.

Guidelines

Applicants should refer to the MT program guidelines (FR) for more detailed information.

Procedure

  1. The student submits their application for a certificate or a certificate renewal to the MT office via the online form as soon as they have been admitted to a course of study at the University of Geneva;
  2. The MT Committee meets in mid-September of each academic year to decide on the admission of candidates to the program. In case of an application submitted past the deadline, an exceptional procedure can permit an individual evaluation;
  3. Decisions are communicated to candidates within 6 weeks after the MT Committee has met. If they have been accepted, the student must contact their academic advisor;
  4. Arrangements are decided within the faculties by their respective academic advisors and validated by the Dean’s Office;
  5. Every year, the student must renew their online application so that the MT Committee can decide whether to renew their admission to the program.

Deadlines

Candidates must submit their online application between February 1st and August 20th  preceding the academic year they are applying for.

Please note that only complete applications submitted within the deadlines will be considered.

Application file

Applicants must complete the online application form within the deadlines, attaching the following required documents, as explained in the current guidelines:

  • Completed online form;
  • Swiss Olympic Card for athletes (if owned);
  • Portfolio for artists;
  • Potential additional documents (see "Critères d’octroi du statut" in the guidelines [FR]).
