Validation of Prior Learning (VAE)

Validation of Prior Learning (Validation des Acquis de l'Expérience - VAE) aims to recognize skills acquired through experience, professional or personal. It allows you to be exempted from some parts of UNIGE programs to get your diploma.

UNIGE offers VAE to help people pursue lifelong learning.

Interesting fact: UNIGE is the first Swiss university to admit candidates without a maturité diploma (in the 1970s) and the first to offer VAE (in 2008).

Who can request a VAE?

You can request a VAE if you have an educational project and professional experience related to the degree you are aiming for.

Who participates in the VAE initiative?

Several faculties and institutes offer a VAE:

the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences (FPSE),
the Faculty of Science,
the Geneva School of Social Sciences (SdS),
the University Institute of Teacher Education (IUFE),
the Computer Science Centre (CUI).
