Contenus

In this two-part course, you will both learn to pronounce English better and feel more comfortable in conversations in English.

In the first part, you will improve your pronunciation with some theory and lots of exercises, concrete challenges and games. You will also listen to different accents to understand them better and be able to interact in English with native and non-native speakers.

In the second part, you will be able to practice conversation with the other students in the course on a different everyday life or current affairs topic each week. You will be asked to read a short text/article to prepare for each class. As you speak, you will work on specific vocabulary and pronunciation. You will also learn how to manage conversation and be given tips on various situations that may arise while participating in informal talk.

Matériel

All material will be supplied during classes and available on Moodle. Various websites, news sources and documents will be used in the class.

Evaluation et attestation

Modalité : contrôle continu.

Attestation d'assiduité (sans mention de crédits ECTS) : 80% de présence ainsi qu'une participation active au cours sont requis.

Attestation de réussite (avec mention de crédits ECTS) : 80% de présence ainsi qu'une participation active au cours sont requis et obtention d'une moyenne globale de 4 points sur 6 au contrôle continu

Crédits ECTS : l’estimation de la charge de travail pour ce cours correspond à 3 crédits ECTS pour un semestre et à 6 crédits ECTS pour deux semestres. La reconnaissance de ces crédits relève du domaine de chaque Faculté (étudiant-es UNIGE) ou de l’Université d’origine (étudiant-es d’échange)
