Notify of an official change of name, surname and/or gender

If you are currently studying at UNIGE and officially change your name/surname, you must inform the Admissions Office. This will enable us to update your information.

How to officially request a name/surname change?
  1. Go to the Admissions Office online platform;
  2. Log in with your UNIGE student credentials;
  3. Type in your request and attach:
    • a copy of your ID,
    • a proof of the name/surname change.

Specify if you also want to change your UMIGE email address. We will process your request considering any possible homonymy and technical constraints.

Important: to make sure the change is official, we can ask you for additional documents. For example, your original ID. You will then need to come in person to the Admissions Office.

What information can be changed?

Once your change request has been approved, we change:

  • your official documents (grade transcript, diploma, others);
  • your student ID card;
  • the UNIGE email address book;
  • the UNIGE email address

Exception: your UNIGE ID (short name or ISIS login) does not change.
