Notify of a change of residence permit
Why is it important to indicate any change about one’s residence permit?
Depending on the permit the student has (for instance “C”), the data is transferred once a year to the Caisse genevoise de compensation (OCAS) (FR). If necessary, they contact the student to pay the AVS contribution.
Who needs to notify the Admissions Office of a change in residence permit or of the obtention of Swiss nationality?
Any student that:
- Lives in Switzerland;
- Is Swiss or has a residence permit (other than the B permit for studies);
- Is not employed by UNIGE.
How to indicate the change?
- Go to the online platform;
- Log in with your UNIGE student login and password (on the left of the page);
- Type your request;
- Enclose a copy of your ID.
The following cases are not concerned and do not require any procedure:
Any student that:
- Lives abroad;
- Has a B permit for studies;
- Is an assistant or teaching/research assistant. Their permit is updated by HR (contact them in case of permit/nationality change).
