Important: for the spring semester, only certain courses are open. Check the list of programs accepting applications for the spring semester.

Read the study regulations of the program you want to take

Check the admission requirements carefully, especially in the event of previous failure in another program. You can contact the academic advisors (french only) for the program you are interested in.

For any general questions about guidance, contact the office for guidance, vocational training, and continuing education (OFPC) (french only).

Register

1. Go to the UNIGE Application Portal;
2. Log in to your SWITCH edu-ID account, or create an account here if you do not have one;
3. Fill out and submit your application. Be sure to meet the deadlines;
4. Check your account and emails (including spam) regularly to track your application.

Important:

• You must submit a request for each program you are interested in.
• The requested change only takes effect the following semester. Except for new university students.
• If you have left UNIGE (even after just one semester), you must apply for re-enrollment.
• If you take a one semester break between two programs, you also need to apply for re-enrollment.
• We might ask you to take a French exam (French exam for the Bachelors and French exam for the Masters and Complementary Certificates).

If you are starting your studies at UNIGE in the first year of a Bachelor's degree without any previous higher education and you have been admitted without special conditions and restriction to one particular faculty/institute/center, you can also request a change of faculty, institute or center.

Important:

• to enroll in the Faculty of Medicine, you must have completed the mandatory pre-registration with swissuniversities. Otherwise, your application cannot be processed.

• to enroll in the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, you must have applied before the deadline and passed the entrance exam. Otherwise, your application cannot be processed.

Before the start of the school year

You must confirm your change in person at the enrollment appointment.

After the start of the school year

You can request a change until Sunday of week 39 at the latest.

If you have already confirmed your enrollment:

• Go to the enrollment Service platform (FR),
• Select "Changement de faculté : UNIQUEMENT pour les NOUVEAUX/ELLES étudiant-es à l'UNIGE" (Faculty change: NEW UNIGE students ONLY),
• Download the Faculty change form,
• Fill out and returm the form.

Important: Some faculties/institutes/centers have special deadlines. If you do not meet these deadlines or if your application is denied, we will not process the Faculty change request.
