Re-enrollment

Procedure

Anyone who wants to send a re-enrollment application for a given semester must follow these steps:

  1. Check the deadlines for the re-enrollment procedure;
  2. Head to the UNIGE Application Portal;
  3. Create a SWITCH edu-ID account or log in to one, in order to access the UNIGE Application Portal;
  4. Follow the instructions;
  5. Complete and submit the re-enrollment application within the specified deadline;
  6. Regularly monitor the status of your application by logging on to the UNIGE Application Portal, and check your e-mails (including spam).

Please note: if you want to apply for several programs, a complete re-enrollment application must be undertaken for each of them within the deadline.

Fees and semester fees

No administrative fees are charged for the analysis of the re-enrollment application.

However, in the event of a debt, you will be informed by e-mail and will have to pay the amount of the debt as well as a fee of CHF 50 so that the re-enrollment request can be processed (Articles 7 and 11 of the Internal Regulations on University Fees and Charges (FR)).

Semester fees for the upcoming semester are due once the re-enrollment is confirmed.

French exam

Good knowledge of French (CECR B2 level) is mandatory in order to study at UNIGE. As part of the re-enrollment process, former students may be asked to (re)take a French exam. The French exam held by UNIGE is valid for 4 years. Then, the student must pass it again, unless they have obtained a bachelor’s degree at UNIGE in the meantime. Exemptions are possible. Check the exam conditions.

One faculty/institute limit

If you had been enrolled at UNIGE without the possibility of changing your chosen program, you must first meet the enrollment conditions to be re-enrolled. In that case, you will be informed via e-mail.

Faculty admission requirements

Any re-enrollment application is sent to the chosen faculty/institute/center and processed to check if the admission requirements for the program are met. To see the requirements and more information, please visit the chosen faculty/institute/program’s website or contact the academic advisors (FR).
