When will you receive your diploma?

You will receive your diploma automatically:

For PhD diplomas and diplomas in connection with other institutions, you might have to wait several weeks before receiving your diploma.

Important:

  • Make sure your postal address is correct on the UNIGE portal ("Mon UNIGE > Données de contact étudiant").
  • if you have finished your studies at UNIGE, ignore the invoice if you receive one.
How will you receive your diploma?

You will receive:

  • your grade transcript, first;
  • then your diploma.

Depending on your faculty/institute/center, you will receive your diploma by registered post, or during the graduation ceremony.

Copies

If your diploma was stolen or lost, you can request a copy.

How to request a copy?
  1. Log in to the Admissions Office online platform;
  2. Type in your request for a copy, attaching the required documents:
    • a written justification (for instance: a police report, insurance claim),
    • a copy of your ID;
  3. Pay online through the link you will receive;
  4. Send proof of payment to the Bureau des diplômes before coming to pick up the copy or receiving it by post.

The copy costs CHF 25 (+ CHF 10 if we need to send it to you abroad).

Important:

Certified copies

You can request a certified copy of your diploma.

How to request a certified copy?
  1. Scan a copy of your diploma (and/or diploma supplement if needed);
  2. Send it via the Admission Office online platform and attach:
    • a copy of your ID,
    • your postal address, in the text;
  3. Wait for the email giving you the payment details for the CHF 10 (+CHF 10 shipping fees);
  4. Pay the fees and inform the Bureau des diplômes;
  5. You will receive the certified copy by registered post. If you prefer to collect it yourself, contact the Bureau des Diplômes.

No payment can be made on site. You must pay the fee in advance.

Important:

Reprint after a change of name or surname

If you officially change your name or surname, you can request a new diploma.

How to request a reprint after a change of name/surname?

Submit a request on the Admissions Office online platform. You must attach:

  • a copy of the official change decision,
  • a copy of your new ID.

You must also give back your old diploma.

Important: UNIGE does not issue a new diploma if you change your name/surname because of marriage or divorce.

Graduates list

Every student who graduates appears on the University's graduates list (FR).

How not to appear on the graduates's list?

Write your request on the Admissions Office online platform or by email. You need to state and attach:

  • the degree you got,
  • the exam session (month and year),
  • a copy of your ID.
